On one of the last days of 2015, a rather warm winter day right after Christmas we did a few surprise acoustic “popup” shows. With just a few acoustic guitars, contrabas, a pack of rice (to serve as a shaker) and a rug (it really tied the room together) we set out for a fun day. Check out the great video’s made by Rob Kitzmann and Bianca Moors.
We started the day with some coffee and hotdog sandwiches at my (Chris) place to rehearse some songs. We’ve been writing many new songs so we took the opportunity to finetune some of the arrangements together. After lunch time we packed up our portable living room and hit the road. First stop: Oud Brabant right across the town square of Eersel, for a beer and enjoy the view.
But no time to waste, we had a schedule to keep. We rolled out our rug in front of the Xmas shed on the town square, installed our furnitures and got comfy. A few onlookers gathered and we played a few songs, the pack of rice proved to be irresistable for little kids. After about 20 minutes of playing we packed up and headed for the second destination: Bladel.
We setup shop in front of a rather classy mansion, in the shopping street. Despite the nice soft weather and busy street, many folks quickly moved by, not bothered to stop and listen. I guess our music hasn’t the same appeal as dressed up Inca tribesmen playbacking to panflute music. Oh well
It was a great day, we finished off with a dinner, friends, loved ones and kids included. A brilliant mix of work and family time. We should do this more often!
